When it comes  to brand reputations, perceptions  are kind of a bomb. This explains the runaway from global enterprises from Russia. "Businesses don't want to be connected with Russia's regime and what's going on in Ukraine," he says. Their Russian company may be profitable, but when it comes to reputational risk, "the rest of the globe is more important."

Samsung, Russia's largest smartphone manufacturer, has announced that supplies to the nation will be halted, but has not stated whether or not its stores will close.

Sony and Nintendo of Japan have halted the delivery of gaming systems, and Sony has also halted the release of the racing game "Gran Turismo 7."

Apple has also stopped selling all of its products in Russia and restricted access to other services like Apple Pay and Apple Maps. Its stores have also shuttered.

Some tech companies, flooded by misinformation, are also restricting Kremlin-linked media outlets posting on their platforms. Facebook was blocked in Russia after it said it had refused to stop fact-checking and labelling content from state-owned news organisations.

Meanwhile, TikTok has blocked all non-Russian content in Russia and suspended live streaming, although it is allowing historical content uploaded by domestic accounts to stay online, including videos by state-backed media services.
